She loves her present!!!!!

I can't believe she's already one year old! It has been an unforgetable year, that's for sure!! It has gone by so fast, yet so slow in the middle of the countless sleepless nights! :) She is over 20 lbs now, and since she has passed the one year mark, we got to turn the car seat around!! She can face forward now, and it has made all the difference! She loves to look around and see where we are going. She has also tried cow's milk now, and actually likes it! On a side note, we have reached my goal of nursing for one year also. I'm proud of that, because it has not always been easy! It was terribly difficult at first and we've had different challenges as she got older and more aware of her surroundings. But anyway! Happy 1st Birthday, Madelyn!! We love you!!

We had a fun Halloween experience!! To start things off, Kyle and I went to a great Halloween party last weekend! Dr. Pickens does this every year, but this was the best party I have ever been to! I went as Gov. Sarah Palin and Kyle went as "Joe the Plumber". :-) Aunt Amanda watched Maddie for us! Then on Tuesday, Kyle and I got to go to the first ever OKC Thunder NBA basketball game! It was pretty cool....although I thought it would be better than it was....but that's okay! It will be something that I can say that I went to for sure. Kayci (my friend from work, she was actually the nurse who delivered Madelyn!!) watched Maddie for us this night. On Thursday, we all went to Haunt the Zoo with my friend Morgan from work, her husband Brian, and her son Blake. We had a good time and the kiddos loved it! And then on Halloween night, Maddie went trick-or-treating for the first time! We went around the neighborhood to a few people that we know. It was fun because she loves going on walks and especially loves seeing people! (Above are a few pictures of the festivities and a few other current pics.)

My Six Things

This list was sent to me from Julie...it's like a chain email, but for your blog! I am supposed to send it to people who haven't done it yet, so if you have not, it's your turn! (Megan and Heather!)

My Six Favorite Things:
1. My husband, Kyle. I'm not good at verbalizing things like this, but he is the best husband ever. I can't imagine my life without him! He is my rock, my constant, my best friend. (And the best daddy ever!)
2. My daughter, Madelyn. I am so blessed to be a mom, it has changed my life. I don't know the words to describe it!! I love seeing her personality come out and watching her grow. She is the best thing to happen to us. I know that sounds cliche, but it's true! She brought Kyle and I even closer in our relationship. It's absolutely amazing that we made such a perfect little person from our love for each other.
3. My family. We get along so well, I'm really lucky! I enjoy seeing how the dynamics change as we get more mature and love when new people are added into the family, like babies and new spouses.
4. My Friends. I don't know what I would do without my friends! News ones and old ones!!
5. Gifts...let me explain! My love language is gifts, both giving and receiving. Have you read the book, The Five Love Languages? It talks about how people have different ways they show their love and to feel loved by others, and they have categorized these into 5 love languages. I love shopping for gifts for other people! I spend so much time just thinking about what to get people for birthdays, baby showers, wedding showers, etc. It's so crazy! Kyle laughs at me.....I make lists and look at registries SO many times before I actually go buy something, it's nuts. I spend a lot of time on trying to find the perfect gift because I'm trying to show that person how much I care for them....I think it's mainly because I'm not good at showing affection or vocalizing how much their friendship means to me, and so when I receive a gift, I feel so loved by the person who gave it to me because they took the time to think about me!
6. Previous TV Show Seasons on DVD! I love these because you can pause them when you need to, for example when Maddie wakes up from her nap, and start them when you get back! Kyle and I have watched all the previous seasons of LOST this way and it has been great! We can watch like 3 episodes in a row instead of having to wait until the next week. :) Love it!

Bad Week

This has been a tough week......Kyle was in a car accident on Tuesday morning. He is okay, but really sore. At least he is not in the hospital! Our car is total loss though. A guy in a GMC Yukon ran a red light and hit Kyle as he was turning. It spun Kyle's car around and made him hit another truck. To make things worse, the guy who hit him doesn't have current insurance! SO, we are having to see if this guy will give us any money, and if not, we'll have to take him to court. We just hope that he'll give us what we need for our car and everything will be settled. What a headache!! Also, our cat got sick on Tuesday and I won't tell you the gross details about that! AND, we think Maddie might have an ear infection, so we are taking her to the doctor today to find out what's going on. :(
Kyle's 27th birthday was on Wednesday! We really didn't do much since he was so sore....it was a pretty crummy day for him. I felt really bad!

Hi guys! Maddie went to her 9 month well baby check up yesturday, and everything is great! She weighs 17 lbs and 9 oz, and is 27 inches long. Dr. Moore said she has a perfect growth curve! She had to get 2 shots, which is terrible, but she is tough and only cried for a little bit. She's really strong in her legs and since she's already creeping along the couch, he doesn't think it will be too much longer before she starts walking! I don't know if I'm ready to see my little baby girl walk yet....she's getting so big and independent and it doesn't seem possible that she has been here for 9 months already!! That's almost a year! I still remember the hospital stay like it was yesturday....
P.S. We bought a new camera, finally! I will post some new pictures soon. Also, we are having 9 month pictures taken by our photographer this coming sunday, so I should have those up sometime next week I hope!

I would put new pictures up, but our digital camera is not working!! We might have to buy a new one. Bummer!
But anyway, I wanted to tell everyone about some of the new things Maddie is doing! She claps her hands now! It's so cute! And she is starting to wave bye-bye occasionally. She says "da da dada dada" and blows raspberries quite often, it's adorable. She is also eating more than just baby food now. She really seems to enjoy feeding herself finger foods, which is always messy and fun to watch! (yogurt, pureed meats, cottage cheese, avocado, banana chunks, peaches, whole cooked green beans, zwieback toast, etc.) I weighed her at work a fews weeks ago and she was 17lbs 3 oz! She is crawling much faster now....one minute she is next to you, and the next she's gone! Chloe does not know what to think about it yet!!
As for Kyle and I, we have started to re-do our master bathroom! It's going very slow, but we've gotten the old fiberglass shower and sheet rock out, and next I think we will take up the old flooring. Then I will need to decide what tile to put in! I'm going to put pebble tile on the floor of the shower, but I havn't gone to actually look at any yet.
Kyle is taking one class this semester at UCO. It's only on Monday nights, so it's not as many evenings as last semester. I'm glad!
I have been making hairbows and headbands for little girls! It's my new hobby since I have a little girl, and they look so cute! I'm trying to make enough to start selling them on ebay or something like that, so if anyone needs any headbands/bows, just let me know! :)

Madelyn is almost 8 months old! The biggest news is that she started crawling last week!! Now, she's pulling herself up to things and she stands up longer. (with some support) It's very different around here! She's very on-the-go. It's true what people say, you can't turn your head for a second!

This Wednesday Madelyn will be 6 months old! I can't believe it! She has been eating rice cereal for a while now, but last Wednesday her pediatrian gave us the okay to start some baby foods. She eats some twice a day and really likes it! She really enjoyed her carrots today. They are so bright staining orange, messy, and fun!

I'm so sorry it has been 2 months since the last pictures! It is crazy how fast time goes by! She is growing so fast and is so much fun! She can roll over both ways now, and giggles and "talks" so much! She loves going outside and enjoys grabing at everything she can, including our cat Chloe and my hair! :) Madelyn went to the zoo for the first time, and it was so fun! She also eats rice cereal every night now and looks forward to it! Yum yum...

IT'S A GIRL!!

We had a Christmas baby! We delivered Madelyn on December 25th at 4:14 A.M. My water broke at work on Christmas Eve, which was perfect since I work on the Labor and Delivery floor. We labored for 13 hours and pushed for almost 2 hours when my doctor decided to take me to the O.R. for a cesarean section. She weighed 7 lbs 3 oz and was 19 3/4 inches long. She had jaundice so she had to be under the "bili" lights for a couple of days while we were in the hospital. She is the sweetest baby! Kyle and I are just amazed at what this little person has done to our world :)

I've dropped! I feel much more pressure...and I'm getting more and more uncomfortable. I don't think the baby has any room in there :) The girls at work put me on the monitor yesturday and the heart rate was in the 150's and 140's. I'm ready for our baby to be here!

35 weeks and counting!

I am 35.4 weeks! In a week and a half I'll be considered full term :) It's going by so quickly! The nursery is finished. We went to our childbirth class last weekend and a breastfeeding class last Wednesday. We bought the car seat yesturday. I've got a bag packed for the hospital. I even bought some de-icer just in case I go into labor and there is ice on our car! It's a little soon, but I think we're ready!!

I'm almost 32 weeks now, and all I can think about it baby this and baby that! I'm making so many lists that in the end just get me even more anxious! Also, it's getting even harder not knowing what we're having. It's fun...don't get me wrong, but so hard! Everyone has their guesses about what they think it is. :) What do you think it is??

Kyle's Birthday

October 15th was Kyle's 26th birthday! I had a big combined party which celebrated Kyle, his mom Virginia and our friend Jennifer's birthdays. It was fun and we had a lot of people in our new house, which was so neat! Kyle got a new 19-volt power drill :)

Kyle's First Kick

Last night at about 8pm Emily and I where sitting on the couch with Chloe (our cat) on Emily's stomach. Chloe started to become disturbed and Emily asked Chloe if the baby was kicking. After about two kicks, Chloe had enough of that business, and so she jumped down.
I have been trying to feel kicks for at least three weeks now and I have never felt a thing. Even though Emily says I should have felt them. Well, for the first time last night I finally felt my first kick! I am so excited now that I can't wait to meet him/her.

These are side views. The baby has its arm up touching its nose in the top picture :) It was moving around a lot! We decided to not find out the sex of the baby, so it will be a big surprise when we deliver in January. I'm 20 weeks...so halfway there!!

Amanda and Aaron's Wedding

My sister and Aaron were married on July 29, 2007. We are so happy for them!! Their wedding was beautiful! The start of their marriage couldn't have gone better :)

Kyle's Prehistoric Monster

Kyle, Aaron's brothers and their dad went fishing the day after Amanda and Aaron's wedding. They went below the damm at Kaw Lake near Ponca City and Kyle pulled this huge paddlefish out with just a normal spin rod on just 17 lb line! They had a scale that went up to 50 lbs with them, but this fish maxed it out because it weighed more than that. It took about 40 minutes to land the fish. This is the biggest fish he's ever caught!

Our Anniversary

We celebrated our anniversary last weekend! We went out to dinner at Pearl's Lakeside, a nice seafood restaurant on the lake. Kyle's friend from work is the singer in a band that was playing on the deck, so we ate and listened to them play for the evening. We were on the east wharf so we watched the sun set, it was a really nice night! AND, the next morning we made waffles...Yum-O!

1st Ultrasound

We had our first ultrasound! Our doctor says everything looks good. It was so cool to hear the heartbeating and see the little baby moving around!! You can see little legs and arms already. Kyle was sitting in a chair and immediatly stood up when he heard it, and his smile couldn't have gotten any bigger. It was exciting!!

Home Improvements

We have been constantly changing things in our new home!! We've been lucky to have a lot of help of from family and friends, which has made things go a little smoother. We finally got our refridgerator delivered and I was also able to put our dishes and kitchen stuff away.

Here's a list of what we've done so far:
-Removed all the popcorn ceiling texture, retextured and painted the ceilings
-Put new tile down in our kitchen and utility room
-Put in hardwood floors in our living room, entry way and hallways
-Painted walls in master bedroom, kitchen, hallways, entry way, and living room
-Sanded, primed and painted all the workwork and trim (a pretty summer white color)
-Cleaned up the backyard (took out an old dog run fence and a huge grape vine growing on it)

What we're working on now:
-Sanding all the kitchen cabinents and drawers to get ready to be painted, in the same summer white color as the trim.
-Painting the spare bathroom (I'm ready to get rid of the ugly mauve color that's in there now!!)

What we're thinking about for the future:
-A nursery!
-A master bath entire remodel
